Rosemarie DeWitt Drops Out of THE NEWSROOMRosemarie DeWitt has officially departed Aaron Sorkin's THE NEWSROOM.

"As the production schedule for season two of The Newsroom has shifted, Rosemarie DeWitt has encountered scheduling conflicts and will no longer be able to continue in her role," HBO said in a statement released today.

It was originally announced in November that DeWitt had signed on to the HBO series alongside UNITED STATES OF TARA co-star Patton Oswalt.

According to Deadline, the actress was to play Rebecca Halliday, "a litigator who's been hired to defend the fictional Atlantis Cable News channel, where the show is set, in a multimillion-dollar wrongful-termination suit."

DeWitt had reportedly already filmed scenes for the show, but as the writers altered her storyline, reshoots were ordered - and DeWitt was unavailable. As a guest star, she was let out of her contract, and the role is now being recast.

DeWitt's latest film, TOUCHY FEELY, is premiering at Sundance this weekend, where she's doing promotional interviews.
