Philip Seymour Hoffman's Cop Drama Gets Picked Up by FX

FX will develop a cop drama produced by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Deadline.com reports. Titled Inside, the television show will be written by playwright-screenwriter Kyle Jarrow, as well as Hoffman and Emily Ziff Cooper's Town Prods.

Inside follows a detective in San Francisco who investigates homicides. The detective's life take a turn, however, when he discovers his father is a convicted murderer who claims he did not kill the detective's mother.

Hoffman and Cooper will both executive produce. Sara Murphy will also produce. 

Hoffman currently stars in the Broadway revival of the play, Death of a Salesman. His other stage credits include the Broadway productions of True West and Long Day's Journey Into Night, as well as Off-Broadway productions of Jack Goes Boating, The Seagull, The Author's Voice and Imagining Brad, Shopping and F******, Defying Gravity, and The Striker. He has also directed and served as artistic director for several Off-Broadway shows including The Little Flower of East Orange, Unconditional, A View from 151st Street, School of the Americas, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Sailor's Song, Guinea Pig Solo, Dutch Heart of Man, Our Lady of 121st Street, The Glory of Living, and Jesus Hopped the A Train.

Jarrow won an OBIE Award for his Off-Broadway play, A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant. His other plays include Love Kills, Trigger, Hostage Song, Gorilla Man and Whisper House. Jarrow wrote the 2012 film Armless, which played at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011.
