According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC will air next year's 66th Annual Primetime EMMY AWARDS one month earlier. The change will avoid a scheduling conflict with the network's Sunday Night Football broadcasts. While the Academy has not commented on the news, sources report that the show will air on August 24th.

The annual TV awards ceremony has aired in September every year since 2002, with exception of the 2006 and 2010 which also aired on NBC. The network acquired the rights to Sunday Night Football back in 2006 and choses not to forego the huge ratings the broadcast consistently earns.

While it may seem odd to air the awards show prior to the launch of the Fall TV season, many publicists and actors alike say they prefer being done with their promotional obligations by the end of the summer when schedules are not so chaotic.

This year, Neil Patrick Harris will host the 65th Primetime EMMY AWARDS, to be broadcast from NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, on Sunday, Sept. 22 on the CBS Television Network.
