NBC UNIVERSO, the modern general entertainment cable channel for Latinos, is announcing the upcoming premiere of the scripted mini-series from Mexico, "Crónica de Castas," on Sunday, April 19 at 10pm ET/PT. The dramatic, unfiltered thriller directed by Daniel Giménez Cacho is making its U.S. television debut on NBC UNIVERSO, and features an acclaimed, diverse cast of actors including the renowned actress Nailea Norvind, Harold Torres, award-winning Spanish actress, Ángela Molina, and Naian Gonzalez Norvind.
The provocative series, filmed in the symbolic neighborhood of Tepito in Mexico City, revolves around the local Hotel Galicia and is interwoven with stories from several distinct characters. Nothing is as it seems in Crónica de Castas, as the series deeply explores its complex personalities from various socio-economic backgrounds - from Yolanda, a woman who moves from Spain hiding a dark past, to Lucia, an upper-class girl who moves to Tepito to escape an abusive household. Undertones and overt acts of racism, prejudices and social class issues all are forces that create tension and conflict in the 'Barrio Bravo.' "NBC UNIVERSO has promised U.S. Latinos exclusive, edgy programming with high-quality production, and Crónica de Castas is a compelling series that delivers on that commitment," said Margie Moreno, Vice President, Programming, NBC UNIVERSO. "Just as the series drew attention in Mexico for its distinctive qualities, we expect Latinos in the U.S. to be moved by its engaging storytelling, polarizing characters and arresting moments."Videos
