According to Entertainment Weekly, GIRLS' Lena Dunham will soon be lending her voice to Fox's long-running animated comedy THE SIMPSONS.

Dunham will be featured in next season's premiere episode, in which "Homer's marriage to Marge is once again on the rocks...While filling a prescription to treat his condition, he crosses paths with a twentysomething pharmacist named Candace (Dunham), who turns out to be a romantic interest."

When things are badly with Marge, he befriends Candace," executive producer Al Jean said. "I don't want to say what happens but I'll say with a Stewart [Burns] script, it's always unexpected, and this one is definitely not what you would expect.... For those who are sick of marriage crisis episodes, it goes in a completely different direction than any before."

Created by Matt Groening, THE SIMPSONS is the longest-running scripted show in TV history. Since premiering in December 1989, the series has become a cultural phenomenon, recognizable throughout the world. The show was named the "Best Show of the 20th Century" by Time magazine and "Greatest American Sitcom" by Entertainment Weekly. Winner of 31 Emmys, its theatrical short, "The Longest Daycare," was nominated for a 2012 Academy Award.
