In a surprise turn within the Marvel Universe, Josh Brolin has been tapped to voice Thanos in the studio's upcoming film GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, sources have told Latino Review.

Per the report:

"Thanos made his first appearance onscreen (played by Damion Poitier) at the end of The Avengers, giving an insidious smile when told that attacking Earth is courting death. Or "Death," with a capital D, as the comic book Titan is in love with the physical embodiment of Death.

Thanos is a member of The Eternals, a group of god-like beings with immense power, far beyond that of humans. Thanos is referred to as the "Mad Titan" in the comics for attempting to wipe out the entire human race with his Infinity Gauntlet, capable of manipulating, time, space, reality and even the human soul."

Brolin, if he has signed on, is expected to make an appearance in the third AVENGERS film.

Though an official confirmation hasn't been given, Latino Review has reached out to Brolin's reps, who are reportedly "giving [them] the run around."

Brolin has starred in Gangster Squad, Jonah Hex, the upcoming Quasimodo, Crazy for the Storm and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, as well as Inherent Vice, Oldboy, Labor Day and Everest. Gosling has also appeared in Gangster Squad, as well as The Place Beyond the Pines, Drive, Blue Valentine, Fracture, Half Nelson and more.
