A reshuffling is underway for the cast of NBC's upcoming comedy THE GATES. TVLine.com reports that former Ally McBeal star and Broadway veteran Greg Germann will replace originally cast Aasif Mandvi in the project. According to the report, producers made the decision to recast the role after the very first table read.

The Gates takes place "at the front gates of an Elementary school drop-off and revolves around the parents, school staff and 15-minute social minefield they navigate at the beginning and end of each school day."

The cast includes Kathleen Rose Perkins, whose character Helen is a type-A mother who recently moved into town. Ken Marino portrays her husband, Mark. Germann will take on the role of a "super-driven, competitive Yale-educated lawyer who pushes his kids way too hard."

Greg Germann has appeared on Broadway in Boeing-Boeing and Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues. His off-Broadway credits include Assassins, Only You, Dearly Departed, Born Guilty and Found a Peanut.

Mandvi was most recently seen in the off-Broadway drama Disgraced at Lincoln Center's Claire Tow Theatre.
