According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gerard Butler is in talks to star in Ericson Core's remake of the 1991 action film POINT BREAK, which originally featured Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.

The new POINT BREAK will feature a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer that follows an FBI agent infiltrating a crime ring in the midst of the "international world of extreme sports".

Butler will play Bodhi, a surfer who rescues Johnny Utah, an undercover FBI agent, and exposes him to a criminal underground. No word yet on who will play Utah.

Butler will next be seen in Gods of Egypt and London Has Fallen, as well as the animated sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2. His past credits include Olympus Has Fallen, Chasing Mavericks, Coriolanus, How to Train Your Dragon, The Bounty Hunter, The Ugly Truth, P.S. I Love You, 300, Beowulf & Grendel, The Phantom of the Opera, Reign of Fire and more.
