According to the Hollywood Reporter, Discovery Networks International is planning to premiere a five-hour documentary series titled, HOW WE INVENTED THE WORLD. The series will examine some of the most life-changing inventions and discoveries made in recent history.

Filming of the series will take place around the world.  The network plans to make customized versions of the documentary for each of its key territories.  The series is set to premiere on Discovery Channel in 2012 and will be broadcast in 210 nations.

Julian Bellamy, creative director and head of production and development for Discovery Networks International noted, "As the prototype for globalized TV in the future, this series is epic in scale, idea and budget, while simultaneously retaining local flavor. It's a fantastic way to kick-start our drive into more original productions that are international ideas that feed Discovery Channel's global footprint."
