"BALLETS WITH A TWIST"


BIO:
Marilyn Klaus has presented choreography in the United States and Europe to critical acclaim, collaborating with contemporary composers on original theater and dance productions. She has also staged dances for opera, music video, and children’s television. Ms. Klaus started dancing in California with Busby Berkeley dancer Gladys Gartman, vaudeville star Mae Murray, and with the Quitzow family in the tradition of Isadora Duncan at their Temple of the Wings. She studied technique and composition with the legendary Carmelita Maracci. She is the recipient of the Isadora Duncan International Institute 2009 Hortense Kooluris Award. Stephen Gaboury (composer) has collaborated with Marilyn Klaus since 1980. He began composing for dance at School of the Arts, Berkeley High in California. Mr. Gaboury has written and produced music for film and television, including scores for the documentaries “Sculpting The Earth” (Isamu Noguchi) directed by Charlotte Zwerin and “Islands” (Christo) for Maysles Films. He has been conductor and musical director for Ute Lemper, Angela Bofill, Peruvian legend Yma Sumac, and for the Laura Nyro Memorial Concert featuring Patti Labelle, Ricki Lee Jones, and Phoebe Snow. As pianist, he has recorded with Jane Siberry, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin, Roseanne Cash, and Jill Sobule. Performing internationally with Cyndi Lauper since 2001, Gaboury received a 2004 Grammy nomination with Ms. Lauper for best arrangement. Catherine Zehr (costume) studied art and design at Washington University and Fashion Institute of Technology. Before working in costume, she honed her skills at major fashion brands, and designed and manufactured apparel for her own company. Designing for Ballets with a Twist since 1997, Ms. Zehr has created costumes for Cocktail Hour, Le Boulevard and the folkloric suite: Tarentellas della Notte, Mazurka!, and Ballet Espagnol. Her work has been seen at Tribeca Film Festival, St. Mark’s Danspace, and Kumble Center for the Performing Arts at Long Island University.
