The true story of Christian missionaries Nik and Ruth Ripken will be shown in select U.S. cinemas for a special one-night feature event, "THE INSANITY OF GOD with DAVID PLATT," on Tuesday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m. local time. This event encompasses the amazing stories of faith at work in some of the darkest places throughout the world. After the feature presentation, there will be a Q&A with Nik Ripken and International Mission Board President, author and speaker David Platt, as well as a performance of "Dimitri's Song" (featured in the production) by musical artist Todd Smith.

Tickets for "THE INSANITY OF GOD with DAVID PLATT" can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in more than 450 movie theaters through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

After the death of their son, Nik and Ruth Ripken journey into the depths of the persecuted church, asking the question: is Jesus worth it? Join Nik as he shares his journey of faith and the ways in which persecuted Christians across the world taught him how to follow, love and walk with Jesus every day.

This feature is based on the best-selling book, "The Insanity of God" (B&H Publishing), and is released in association with the International Mission Board (IMB). This will be the first theatrical release from LifeWay Films when it opens in theaters across the U.S. on August 30 as a one-night event.

"We are honored to partner with LifeWay Films to bring this incredible story to movie theaters across the country," Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. "The Ripkens' story is an inspiring message of hope and faith that will enlighten audiences on the price many Christian's face in the world today."

"I encourage you to go to the theater and watch this film. It will change your perspective on what it means to follow Jesus, and your life will be changed," Platt said.
