The New York Daily News reports that actor Harrison Ford underwent surgery to repair a broken ankle and pelvis today, following a death-defying plane crash in California last night. The 'Star Wars' actor was listed in "fair to moderate condition" hours after he was forced to crash land his World War II-era plane onto the middle of an LA golf course.

A source tells KTLA that doctor's operated on the 72-year-old's broken bones for approximately four hours after the 2:30 p.m. incident in which the actor suffered multiple gashes to his head along with cuts to his arms.

Witnesses at the scene revealed that they were unable to recognize the well-known celebrity as he was being stablized and evacuated from the scene of the crash. It remains unclear whether he suffered internal injuries.

Ford just announced that he will reprise his role as the disgruntled bounty hunter 'Rick Deckard' in the upcoming BLADE RUNNER sequel. The actor has enjoyed an extensive career, from starring in blockbusters such as STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES to appearing in serious dramas such as THE FUGITIVE. He is expected to appear this spring in the new romantic comedy THE AGE OF ADALINE, and will reprise his role as Han Solo in the upcoming STAR WARS film later this year.
