UPDATE: Tracy Morgan's Recovery Progressing; Medical Team Remains Optimistic
Former 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, who was was involved in a car crash on Saturday that included two tractor-trailers and an SUV, remains in critical-but-stable condition. According to the actor's publicist, he is continuing to show signs of improvement.
"Today was a better day," his publicist Lewis Kay shared yesterday, adding that Morgan's medical team remains optimistic that his recovery is progressing. Morgan is likely to remain in the hospital for the next several weeks, Kay said.
Comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair was killed while four were hospitalized as a result of the accident which occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike early Saturday morning. Comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton a man named Jeffrey Millea were the others injured. Morgan injuries included broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and a broken femur.
Walmart Truck driver Kevin Roper, 35 pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to charges that include vehicular homicide and assault by auto. In a criminal complaint, police said Roper had been awake for more than 24 hours at the time of the crash.
