The Endometriosis Foundation of America (EFA) will hold its Eighth Annual Blossom Ball on Tuesday, April 19th at 7:00 PM, at Pier Sixty, located at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Founders Padma Lakshmi, Emmy nominated host and producer of Bravo's "Top Chef," New York Times bestselling author with her newest book, Love, Loss, and What We Ate, entrepreneur and mom, and Tamer Seckin, MD, world-renowned laparoscopic surgeon and author of the new book, The Doctor Will See You Now: Recognizing and Treating Endometriosis, will host the event.
This year, the EFA will present two outstanding women with the Blossom Award, Lena Dunham and Susan Sarandon. Both endometriosis patients and supporters of the EFA, Dunham and Sarandon will be honored for their contributions to raising awareness for endometriosis, or associated women's health issues, and the advancement of women. The EFA strives to not only recognize health care professionals that are making a difference in women's lives, but also those outside of the medical and scientific community who inspire, advocate and help enact change. "We are thrilled to honor two extraordinary women who are beacons of light and an inspiration to millions." said Padma Lakshmi, co-founder of the EFA. "Susan Sarandon and Lena Dunham have both been an outspoken force for women's health, specifically endometriosis. Dr. Nezhat has developed a multitude of techniques and pioneered research and clinical treatment of cancer as it relates to endometriosis.
