FISH IN THE DARK's Rosie Perez to Exit THE VIEW?

Variety writes that after just four months on ABC's THE VIEW, co-host and Broadway star Rosie Perez is departing the show's panel.

Perez previously announced a hiatus to appear on Broadway in Larry David's Fish In the Dark this month, but now rumor is the actress will officially not be returning to the daytime show.

ABC's news division told Deadline in response to the rumor: "Rosie Perez is currently in rehearsal for her Broadway play for the month of January. Her status with the show has not changed."

Perez joined THE VIEW after Barbara Walters' departure last summer, along with new co-hosts Rosie O'Donnell and Nicolle Wallace.

"Insiders" tell Variety that Perez had trouble reading from the teleprompter and "never got a hang of the show's mixture of hard and soft news."

Before FISH IN THE DARK, which debuts this spring, Perez appeared on Broadway in THE RITZ, RECKLESS, THE PLAY WHAT I WROTE and FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE.

She will next appear on the big screen in FIVE NIGHTS IN MAINE and recently starred in the films FUGLY!, THE BEING EXPERIENCE, GODS BEHAVING BADLY and THE COUNSELOR. Perez has also appeared on TV in THE CLEVELAND SHOW, LIPSTICK JUNGLE and more.
