Writers' Club of Whittier Announces Publication of Member's Memoir, Politically Homeless - A Five-Year Odyssey Across Three Continents

Mary Terzian's multicultural nonfiction memoir, "Politically Homeless - a Five-Year Odyssey . . .," published by Author House in July 2015, relates the award-winning author's travels and adventures across the globe in search of a niche where she can realize her dreams of pursuing college education.

Born to Armenian refugee parents, Terzian grew up in Cairo, within the Armenian community. Her ambitions exceeded the parameters of normal expectations in the 1950's when young girls were traditionally locked into domestic life. College education for them was considered superfluous. Mary broke loose from conventions, quit home to join the World Health Organization in Alexandria and eventually accepted an expatriate assignment in Leopoldville, Congo, at the height of civil war there. She endured the rigors of living abroad, while saving funds for her college tuition.

Terzian's book reflects the universal struggles of immigrants who have lost their homeland and have to re-start life elsewhere. It unfolds her extraordinary ventures into unfamiliar territory, a journey that transforms a shy and reserved young girl into an intrepid woman.
