In "Critical Thinking: Totality of Circumstances, Third Edition" (published by Balboa Press), Wayne L. Davis, Ph.D. applies math and English to the law so officers can confidently defend their actions in court. Targeted at law enforcers, lawyers and individuals facing the United States legal system, the book shows an objective and consistent way using flowcharts, Boolean algebra and truth values to assess laws, police reports and suspect statements.

In a time when police officer's actions are increasingly being called into question, Davis provides officers a way to better understand and defend their actions in accordance with the law. Because police officers are given authority over people's lives, Davis wants to emphasize their accountability, yet help them articulate the legality of their actions.

Davis, a former field-training officer with the Indiana State Police with over 20 years of experience in law enforcement, has also written numerous other textbooks concerning law enforcement, police-community relations, terrorism and more. He hopes officers will be able to learn an objective way to assess the laws they are sworn to protect.
