WOOF: THE STORY OF A GIRL AND HER DOG by Janet Shafer is Available Now
Millie, a young girl, doesn't realize when she gets out of bed Saturday morning that she'll get the surprise of her life: Her dog, Max, can talk! In this new illustrated children's book, Millie and Max have several conversations, which helps them get to know each other better. And it's not just Millie who has questions because Max has plenty of his own.
"Woof: The Story of a Girl and Her Dog" offers more than a charming story about a girl and her talking dog. Readers learn some fun facts as they follow their day together. For instance, dogs can't eat chocolate or grapes because of chemicals in those foods that don't interact well with dogs' systems. Also, dog aren't color blind, but scientists have discovered that they can't see as many colors as humans. The book's drawings come alive thanks to the talents of O.H. Foxwood - an artist collaborative group - with help from graphic artist Madeline Haraway.
Author Janet Shafer had lots of help from her grandchildren for this book, including illustrations for it. This is the first book for the Wisconsin resident.
