EAST LANSING, Mich.

During many years as a part-time, temporary, adjunct and assistant professor at Michigan State University, Vivian Scott Hixson has produced hundreds of cartoons commenting on the academic scene. Described as "brilliantly perceptive" "on-target humor," they have often appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education and have been widely re-printed in textbooks and newsletters. She recently released a collection of the more recent cartoons entitled "They Look Too Happy to Be Temporary Adjunct Assistant Professors" (published by Xlibris).

Hixson's earlier cartoons were first republished as "He Looks Too Happy to Be an Assistant Professor" by the University of Missouri Press in 1995. The success of her first book inspired Hixson to publish a second collection. "They Look Too Happy to Be Temporary Adjunct Assistant Professors" brings together cartoons created between 1996 and 2014 featuring the same blend of wit and humor that popularized Hixson's work.

Made with equal measures of hilarity and insight, "They Look Too Happy to Be Temporary Adjunct Assistant Professors" will delight students, teachers, university faculty and anyone who has experienced both the mundane and marvelous aspects of college and university life.
