Former rival cricket players John Scascighini and Brian Lawrence collaborate to write about the thing they are most familiar with - "The O'Farrell Cup" (published by Xlibris AU). By expounding on what this trophy means, they are able to foster appreciation of the history and scope of this extraordinary and historic competition.

This is the story of the O'Farrell Cup, a cricket challenge trophy which has been in continuous competition since 1925. The O'Farrell Cup has long been regarded as the "Holy Grail" and symbol of cricketing supremacy of cricket in the Riverina - an area of New South Wales, Australia which enjoys a proud sporting tradition. The book contains summaries of all 1,248 games played in the 90 years since its inauguration and many lists of outstanding performances with bat and ball. At the end the authors each select their "best all-time team."

Scascighini and Lawrence both played in this wonderful competition as young men years ago. Both are also concerned that no records had been kept and no written history existed except in scattered old newspaper reports and in the fading memories of past players. Through this book, they are making sure that this dear competition is forever remembered.

"We resolved to rectify this omission and bring together the story of this grand sporting tradition which has formed such a colourful part of the sporting fabric of the Riverina and compile the statistical records that are such an integral part of the game we love so much," the authors add.
