WASHINGTON, May 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ The Missing Pages of the Parent Handbook was selected as a Finalist in the Parenting/Family category of the 2014 Next Generation Indie Book Awards as well as the 2014 International Book Awards.

When author Christina Brockett first became a parent, she questioned her ability to be a "great parent" and quickly realized that true parenting wisdom comes from those who have been in the parental trenches. Her book, The Missing Pages of the Parent Handbook, is a product of years of interviews of ordinary moms and dads from across the country.

Many parenting books focus on the art and theory of childrearing, which can overwhelm already struggling parents. "The Missing Pages" is written from the perspective of parents who have experienced parental curveballs and come out wiser. The stories contained in the book cover a broad spectrum of issues from light to heavy through many phases of life. Each story takes the reader through a parental trial and ends with a note of supporting wisdom. Both expectant parents as well as parents of grown children will find insightful information inside.

"I wanted the book to be like talking to a close friend who shares their story with the reader, but more importantly shares what they learned from the experience so that the mom or dad reading the book comes out wiser," explains Brockett.

"The Missing Pages" has enjoyed several awards in Parenting/Family categories since its release in April 2013 including: the 2013 USA Best Books Awards Finalist; Reader Views Reviewer's Choice Award Winner; and a 2014 National Parenting Publications Honors Winner.

Brockett published The Missing Pages of the Parent Handbook through Stella Maris Press LLC, and it is available for purchase from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple.
