GLEN GARDNER, N.J.

Three young adults rise above their less-than-ideal home lives in the new novel from author Maryann Bouco, "The Last Stand" (published by WestBow Press).

Marge, Judy and Danny come from environments that are less-than-desirable. Somehow, after they each endure their own crises - including unplanned pregnancy, family conflicts, robbery and loneliness - they decide to make positive life changes and escape the patterns of misfortune that seemingly befell them during their years of growing up.

"It's a story about lifelike people with lifelike struggles, who overcome their struggles in practical, good ways," Bouco says of her book. "We can make our lives better by simply making a choice to live our lives for the better, according to God's ways."

Bouco hopes her book will inspire readers, young and old, to reach for higher aspirations and continue along paths of positive change until they achieve their goals.
