Low self-esteem? Learn to love yourself by embracing your God-given gifts.

Countless people yearn for acceptance and experience self-doubt, which inhibits the joy of living a purpose-filled life. In his new book, "The House and the Hedge," author Stuart W. Leigh provides readers with a practical tool to help reassure self worth and teach them to embrace the gifts God has provided.

Throughout the book, Leigh uses the metaphor of the "hedge" to describe the cumulative psychological barriers developed due to the effects of watershed life moments - the moments that define who we are in the world through our emotions, values, beliefs and self-image.

"The second of God's commandments presents a challenge to all of us as we deal with the complexes build during our upbringing, and as a result of many life changing circumstances and decisions that we make as we live life," Leigh said. "A significant number of people yearn for acceptance and experience significant self-doubt, which inhibits the joy of living a purpose filled life."

Leigh dealt with a broken home life that led to confusion and a low self-worth as he grew older. Following an epiphany, he made peace with the person God had made him to be, and realized he could help others by sharing the lessons he learned throughout these troublesome years.

"In that [epiphany] moment, I understood that I was good enough," Leigh said. "God loved me just as I was; after all, He created me."
