His observation about the need for the average Somali, and other non-Somali speakers, to write and read the Somali language has propelled author and Somali language expert Suleban Said to share an effective guide to promote learning at the same time preservation of his mother tongue. "Learning Somali language Book One" (published by Xlibris) is an easy-to-read and understand book aimed at everyone who want to learn Somali.

Somali language has been written with a number of different scripts, including an Arabic-based abjad known as Wadaad's writing, a Latin-based alphabet and the Borama, Osmanya and Kaddare alphabets. In his quest to preserve their mother tongue and promote its continued use in their country and even abroad, Mr. Said helps his countrymen revive and learn their mother tongue with a higher degree of efficiency.

Aided with illustrations, this nationalistic and educational book serves as a valuable tool for the preservation of the culture and language in Somalia and other Somali-speaking countries. "Learning Somali language Book One" is an essential book for the many programs that the Somali Diaspora is currently running to build awareness in the Somali community to revive the language.
