St. Louis County Library Presents Eighth Annual Suspense Night Tonight

St. Louis County Library Foundation presents "Suspense Night: An Evening of Thrills and Chills with Five Renowned Mystery Writers" tonight, May 10, at 7:00 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd. Top mystery writers Michael Koryta, Ace Atkins, Megan Abbott, Reed Farrel Coleman and Hank Phillippi Ryan will read from recent work and discuss their craft.

Copies of the authors' books will be for sale at the event from Left Bank Books. A question-and-answer forum and book signing will follow the program. The program is free and open to the public.

Michael Koryta has been widely hailed as one of the most exciting young thriller writers at work today. His internationally bestselling novels are "The Ridge," "The Cypress House," and "So Cold the River"-all of which were included in the New York Times Notable Books list. His latest novel is "The Prophet" has been reviewed as his most terrifying and gripping book to date.

Ace Atkins was selected by the estate of Robert B. Parker to continue the beloved Spenser detective series. He will discuss his second installment in the series, "Wonderland." Atkins is also the author of the critically-acclaimed stand-alone thrillers "The Ranger" and "The Lost Ones."

Megan Abbott is the Edgar-winning author of the novels "Die a Little," "The Song Is You," "Queenpin," "Bury Me Deep," and the national bestseller "The End of Everything." Her latest novel is "Dare Me," a noir thriller set in the cut-throat world of high school cheerleaders.

Reed Farrel Coleman is the author of the Moe Prager mystery series that includes "Walking the Perfect Square," "Redemption Street," "The James Deans," " Soul Patch," "Empty Ever After," and "Hurt Machine." His latest installment in the series is "Onion Street." A three time winner of the Shamus Award for Best Detective Novel, Coleman is also the author of the critically acclaimed crime drama "Tower," co-written with Ken Bruen.

Hank Phillippi Ryan is an investigative reporter for Boston's NBC affiliate, and has won twenty-seven Emmys and ten Edward R. Murrow awards. A bestselling author of four mystery novels, Ryan has won the Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards. She will discuss her latest hit thriller "The Other Woman."
