8th June, London - Simon & Schuster UK today announced the acquisition of two terrifying YA novels, from US debut author Amy Lukavics. The first, Daughters Unto Devils, will publish as a paperback original on 8th October 2015, in time for Halloween.

Rachel Mann, Fiction Editor, bought World English excluding US and Canada rights from James Wills, Managing Director at Watson, Little, on behalf of Joanna Volpe at New Leaf Literary & Media in the US.

Chilling, visceral and utterly compulsive, Daughters Unto Devils will captivate fans of American Horror Story, Stephen King and The Others and is best described as The Exorcist meets Little House on the Prairie. It tells the story of sixteen-year-old Amanda Verner, who fears she is losing her mind. When her family move from their small mountain cabin to the vast prairie, Amanda hopes she can leave her haunting memories behind: of the birth of her terribly afflicted baby sister; of the cabin fever that claimed Amanda's sanity; of the boy she has been meeting in secret and whose baby she now carries. But the Verners arrive on the prairie to find their new home soaked in blood. And Amanda has heard stories - about men becoming unhinged and killing their families, about the land being tainted by evil. With guilty secrets weighing down on her, Amanda can't be sure if the true evil lies in the land, or within her soul...

Rachel Mann said 'Daughters Unto Devils is a horrifying and truly unputdownable read, and an astoundingly accomplished debut. We're thrilled to be bringing Amy's incredible, cinematic writing to UK readers'.

Lukavics adds, 'When I found out that Daughters unto Devils had sold in the UK to Simon & Schuster, I was elated beyond words. Ever since I started writing, S&S was a dream house of mine, so to hear that my creepy little book had found a home with them was incredibly special and exciting.'

Amy Lukavics lives in Prescott, Arizona with her husband and two children, and was picked up by her US agent at only 20 years old. She is a candy and video game enthusiast and a contributor to @yaHighway. You can follow her on Twitter @amylukavics. Daughters Unto Devils is her debut novel.
