Rachel Goldenberg to Helm MGM Musical Adaptation of Romantic Comedy VALLEY GIRL

Deadline reports exclusively that Rachel Goldenberg (Lifetime's A DEADLY ADOPTION) will helm MGM's upocming musical adaptation of the 1983 romantic comedy VALLEY GIRL. The film follows "a teenage valley girl who begins to question the life she's always known when she falls in love with a punk rocker from Hollywood."

The original film, which launched the career of Nicholas Cage, featured a soundtrack with songs from such bands as Modern English, MEN AT WORK and The Payolas. Matt Smith will produce from a script by Amy Talkington.

Goldenberg other credits include directing content for Funny or Die, along with the critically acclaimed series, Lady Time and Snackpocalypse with Chloë Grace Moretz and Michelle Obama, Mary Poppins Quits starring Kristen Bell and Modern Office starring Christina Hendricks.
