Kate Armstrong is a vivid dreamer, but her past haunts her dreams as she attempts to move forward after ending an abusive relationship. Her insecurities and nightmares threaten a prospective future full of happiness and love in the new novel from C.F. Corbett, "Oceans Apart" (published by iUniverse).

Kate has a horrific secret - a secret she hasn't shared with anyone - a secret from her past - a secret that nearly ended her life. She's in a constant battle to bury her horrid past and feel whole again, when she meets the strikingly handsome English lawyer, Stephen McGilveroy. She's instantly drawn to him but is unsure if she's ready for a relationship or if she can trust him.

"Kate is plagued by nightmares, but inwardly is determined to overcome her past and move forward," Corbett says. "She meets my hero, Stephen McGilveroy, and through him she gains confidence, but Stephen struggles with his own commitments and fears."

Stephen is stubborn, confident and comes from an aristocratic English family. His future has been set since he was a child, but he struggles with his commitment to take over the family business and his mother's rule that he can only marry a person with the same social status. When he meets Kate, his attraction is evident, but he's confused between his desire to be with Kate, his future responsibilities and his mother's rule. Will his stubborn pride drive Kate away from him? Will either of them follow the path laid out for them?

In this interesting and exciting romance novel, Corbett reveals how people can overcome their fears and binding family obligations by believing in themselves and trusting others. It reveals the belief Corbett wishes to instill in readers, that, against certain odds, anything is possible.

C. F. Corbett is an award-winning photographer with 13 years experience in business writing. Her first published romance novel is "Oceans Apart." She currently resides in Brooks, Alberta. "Oceans Apart" is available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
