HOUSTON

From the moment they are born children begin to learn based on visual cues, sounds and other sensory experiences. It is important to begin reading to them in order to encourage brain development, which provides a great opportunity to share life lessons with one's kids.

Lynn Powell has turned her 20 years of experience as a stay-at-home mom into a captivating new learning tool for parents to provide stronger value-based lessons to their children. Her new book, "Planting My Values," opens the doorway for kids to create a foundation for understanding who they are and what values they hold, so they can make better life decisions.

"Children are constantly inundated with media and technology that forces them to make a multitude of difficult choices everyday," Powell said. "As a mother of four, I made a commitment to uncover and create every possible opportunity to help my kids learn how to make the right choices. Now I want to help other parents create the same opportunities."

"Planting My Values" follows a young boy as he searches for good values and how he can acquire them himself, only to discover that the ability to make good choices was always within him.

Raising kids is about more than just setting rules. A good parent needs to instill ethical ideas so their kids can internalize that morality at an early age. Powell helps kids to learn by example, exhibit good behavior, gain self-confidence and feel great about helping others.
