Author Chuck Johnson has compiled his personal experiences as a police officer in "Target...Cop!" (published by iUniverse), his fiction debut.

"Life as a cop truly is not easy," writes Johnson, who imbeds his story with the sober reality of being a police officer.

Set in a city in Southern California, "Target...Cop!" is about undercover cop, Jason Shaw, who has made innumerable arrests. His hard work pays off as crime is down and citizens are happy. However, Jason becomes a target of one of his arrests.

Gritty and true-to-life, the book gives readers an insider's look at the perilous life that cops lead and the challenges they face.

An excerpt from the book:

John F. Kennedy; "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"
He struggled to peer through the grimy windshield of the old pickup truck, softly cursing his worn wipers and the steady rain. Visibility was additionally hampered because he had turned o? his headlights halfway down the block, and the dismal darkness matched his mood.

His spirits elevated when he ?nally saw his objective and stopped next to the driveway. Good, he thought. No lights on inside. Pulling the hood over his head, he stepped out into the falling rain and moved quickly, spurred on by excitement mixed with trepidation.
