An alien warmonger has set his sights on Earth, a scientist discovers a being with strange engravings on its skin frozen in the Arctic and a hacker uncovers a government plot. These elements join together in Christopher Jones and Eric J. McCowan's exciting debut novel, "Scion of War: Dawn of Darkness" (published by AuthorHouse).

The first in a planned series, "Scion of War" tells the story of a galactic war fought thousands of years ago and presumed resolved. An alien being named Veriun is determined to finish his quest for galactic dominance and is ready to pull Earth into the conflict. When Byron, a scientist, discovers a strange being in the Arctic Ocean, he has no idea that he has unlocked a being capable of saving Earth or destroying it. Robbie, a hacker, discovers the government is tracking certain individuals. As he digs deeper, he becomes a target himself.

An excerpt from "Scion of War":

"As Veriun was recovering from his final swing, Glidell leapt over him and plunged Vengeance into the chest of an attacking guard accompanying him to the ground. Glidell rolled from on top of the dead guard and swung his sword high decapitating another assailant; he then swung low knocking another guard to the ground and finished him off with a forceful stab through the neck. The three lifeless bodies laid sparking and smoking from the shortage in their electrically powered armor."

"Scion of War" has the interstellar travel and laser battles fans of "Star Wars," "Star Trek" and other science fiction stories will appreciate. These futuristic elements are combined with detailed character development and a sprawling story of civilizations at war that will appeal to fans of high fantasy. The intense action will keep readers of any genre entertained from beginning to end.
