Lawrence D. Mills has fostered a lifelong fascination of rail transit systems. He is particularly interested in the Boston Elevated which sadly, no longer exists. He recently released a photo book that documents the final decades of Boston's busy and historic "Main Line Elevated" (published by Xlibris).

Mills' first book paints a compelling portrait of Boston's transformation from the 1960s to the 1980s presented through its railway system. "Main Line Elevated" features photographs that depict rare views of Roxbury as well as other stations, structures and automobiles as they looked during the final years of the line's operation.

Boston is a major city in the United States and this book shows how its historic transit system was a significant part of it. Mills shows how the city changed as the elevated was removed and gives readers a sense of what the line was, its role in the life and function of the city and how things have changed since the line was removed.

"Main Line Elevated" is a unique and insightful journey into Boston's past and the railway system that helped shaped it into what it is today.
