J. Gawlik marks her debut in the publishing world with the release of her first novel "New Beginnings" (published by Xlibris). Driven by a cast of indelibly characterized men and women, this new book follows Emma, a 40-something single mother, on a transformative journey of self-discovery and love.

Emma was finally going to get to start living her own life. Having wrenched herself out of one bad relationship only to fall into another, romance had not been on her radar for quite a while. Suddenly, it seemed, she looked up and she was single again, forty-something and the parent of an adult, self-sufficient young man away at university. She was now an empty nester. She was young enough to start fresh and old enough, hopefully, to know which mistakes to avoid. But can her hard-won wisdom and innate determination prepare her for what is coming next?

"I hope my book will entertain readers at the very least," Gawlik says. "At the most, perhaps there will be a few who find inspiration or at least a renewed sense of determination to face and move through the challenges of their lives, and find new beginnings of their own."

This evocative, deeply moving first novel is a story of love in all its forms and the hope that comes from the promise of "New Beginnings."
