The journey of love can be filled with unexpected twists and turns, as author Gwendolyn Stevens discovered. In her new book, "Love, Sun, and Lizard Poop," she tells the story of her life, a true tale of how a widow and a divorcee found love while having humorous misadventures in a distant and exotic locale.

Stevens recounts how she and her husband-to-be, Nils Wessell, reconnected after each one of them experienced loss and separation. She shares how both of them knew each other from the U.S. Coast Guard, and how, after their reunion, they decided to risk everything to be with each other while sharing the frustrations of building a new home and a new beginning in the Virgin Islands. They are joined in their adventure by their pet dog, Tahshi, a Yorkie, and along with their romance and their hijinks, readers will learn about the adventure of homebuilding, and how their unpredictable experiences helped strengthen the bond they have for each other.

"It's about real people risking emotional hurt to find love," Stevens explains the theme of her work.

"Love, Sun, and Lizard Poop" is a touching and heartfelt memoir of a pivotal period in the author and her husband's life.
