Set around Philadelphia and Boston in the early winter of 1775 during the early days of the American Revolution, David W. Arndt's debut novel, "Grimm Patriot" (published by Archway Publishing), follows Joseph Grimm - a young man trying to find his purpose. When Joseph joins the newly formed Continental Marines, he and a few of his fellow Marines are immediately chosen for a secret mission to stop a driven and determined enemy who carries a secret that could bring the rebellion to its knees.

"I have a passion for history and have always loved writing stories. I like to use the framework that history provides as a backdrop to imagine characters and how they might have interacted in that setting," Arndt explains. "It's great fun for me to put myself in someone else's shoes, in another time and another place and see that world through their eyes."

A rare imagining of what the first days of the Continental Marines might have looked like, "Grimm Patriot" explores the chaos and sacrifice that was necessary to build what would later become the United States Marine Corps from scratch. Along the way, Joseph learns that he is wholly unprepared for the true ramifications of his decision to enlist as he and his compatriots fight to overcome their adversary before it's too late.

"My hope is that 'Grimm Patriot' is an enjoyable read for anyone who is interested in the history of the American Revolution and, specifically, the Continental Marines," Arndt says.
