When author Michael Kies was 10 years old, he saved his father's life and learned some priceless lessons in the process. After surviving acute leukemia, he realized the lessons he learned while saving his father's life had made a significant impact on his life. He has put his life experiences together in his new book, "Unreasonable!: The power of expectations" (published by Balboa Press), as a record of the priceless lessons he has learned about living a full and courageous life.

"When life presents us with challenges it's the unreasonable person who makes progress and thrives," Kies says. "History is filled with people who had the courage to have unreasonable expectations, to do the unusual and the unexpected."

A true story about Kies' life, "Unreasonable!" depicts the path of persistence and courage that he chose to take while not really considering any other way to be an option. He hopes to show readers that most things are possible if they have the right mindset and persist until success is achieved.

Kies subscribes to the belief that being unreasonable is the single most important galvanizing force on the planet. He follows in the footsteps of playwright George Bernard Shaw, who is recorded as having said, "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
