NEW YORK - Mary Bottom-Tinsley has had many conversations with others about family affairs and disappointments. Inspired by their stories, she wrote "The Mother Who Was Once Denied" (published by Xlibris) to portray what some families have to go through in the face of tragedy, discrimination and disfigurement stigma.

Set in the city of Jonesville, La., the story follows a happily married, God-fearing, Southern couple who encounter good and crucial times in their lives. When tragedy strikes, the mother, Minnie becomes facially disfigured and the father, Tom, takes away their youngest child to move to the city, abandoning his wife and their two older children. Though it broke her heart, Minnie never loses her faith even as she faced a judgmental world. Holding onto her family with hope, love and trust in God, she strives to live on, but her facial impairment makes it hard for her to find work. Minnie learns patience and waits on the Lord with great determination to rise above all difficulties that surround her during her darkest times.

In relating Minnie's struggles, "The Mother Who Was Once Denied" weaves a compelling tale that shows how God never forsakes anyone, regardless of physical appearance. In reading this book, Bottom-Tinsley hopes for her readers to take away a clear thought of how to deal with truth and get the best result.
