It was after Mark Swinbank's fifth visit to Bhutan that he felt compelled to express his thoughts about the country he had come to love. He is forever grateful that he has been privileged to travel to such a unique country, to mingle amongst its special people, to experience their smiles, to make friends and to see the mountain vistas that only the Himalayas can provide.

A personal travel blog and retrospective of Mark Swinbank's own life, "The Road to Kamji" (published by AuthorHouse UK) charts his journeys and experiences during his varied visits in Bhutan with different and often disparate group of people, unknown fellow travelers and friends. It traces the connection with his home in the wild Outer Hebridean islands of Scotland which is both physical and spiritual.

"Bhutan is a comparatively little known country," Swinbank said. "It has a small population, is economically poor but incredibly rich in spirit and culture. I believe we can all learn from this tiny country which espouses 'gross national happiness' as being more important to them than their gross domestic product."

"The Road to Kamji" offer readers a deeper understanding of one man's personal experiences in a country that made so much impact in his life and in which he believes has so much to offer to the rest of the world. He also hopes to inspire readers to make their own visit to Bhutan.
