In "The Red-Haired Man" (published by iUniverse), author Marie Tapia's new novel, readers watch as a young woman in 19th century France breaks societal conventions to pursue an unconventional passion of expressing herself.

Colette Broussard is an average lady living in France. She is married to an up-and-coming banker and raises their three children. But, all the while, she feels that she is meant for something more. When she meets a man with red hair one day, her world is washed in a new color, a color of rebellion. It seems her "perfect" life is about to get a little imperfect.

"'Upstairs in my room, removing my clothes, I notice a splotch of yellow paint on the hem of my dress. How will I remove it from this material? Never have I come home with a spot of paint on me. I've only brought back drawings, a part of a painting, as proof I was there working. Today I've brought nothing home. I left my canvas with Vincent to dry. Blotting out the yellow paint from my skirt, I recall the afternoon. I must dress for dinner. Soon Andre will be home.'
