A ferret and a young man become unlikely friends in the 2006 children's picture book from author M.J. Abrams, "Chubby Wubbles: A Ferret's Tale" (published by Trafford Publishing). As part of a new marketing campaign, Abrams' book was recently featured at the 2015 Association of College and Research Libraries Conference from March 25-28.

"Chubby Wubbles" tells the tale of Chubby the ferret and Jeremy, who adopts Chubby out of loneliness. Chubby loves to go on walks, take rides atop a blanket and follow Jeremy wherever he goes. He also loves to explore new areas and fall asleep inside plastic bags.

Abrams says "Chubby Wubbles" was written with ferret shelters in mind. He dedicates the book to those whose hard work and dedication help find good homes for wayward ferrets everywhere.

An excerpt from "Chubby Wubbles":

"One day, Jeffrey let Chubby out of his playpen while he cleaned up the apartment. As he opened the door to take out the garbage, Chubby followed him closely and quietly slipped outside. Chubby quickly scurried past him and scampered down the steps just as Jeffrey turned around to close the door behind him. He thought Chubby was still inside!"
