FLINT, Mich.

In his first foray into the literary world, author Leon El-Alamin uses the power of words to inspire a generation that he believes is currently caught in a web of "oppression" coming in the forms of ignorance, poverty, irresponsibility and violence. "Pain is Poetry" (published by Xlibris) is El-Alamin's instrument to change this society's urban reality, one step at a time.

He has been in prison for seven years. And during that time, El-Alamin had many realizations; many of those were transcribed in paper. Those verses and lyrical compositions ultimately made up his poetry collection "Pain is Poetry." In it, El-Alamin transitioned his thoughts of how ordinary citizens can make a difference in this world. Those very thoughts were applied to use when he got out and he started an organization that helps young people in his community. Leading by living his words, El-Alamin shows how good intentions can be turned into good actions.

Soulful, this book contains El-Alamin's heart and mind bent on helping 'lost souls' and bring them back on the right track. Presented primarily to all who seek to be drawn out of the dark corners of this world, this one book guide readers see the light at the end of a dark tunnel.

About the Author
Leon El-Alamin is a native of Flint, Mich. While in the Michigan Department of Correction from 2003 to 2010, he discovered his love for poetry and wrote the poetry collection "Pain is Poetry." El-Alamin made a major decision that once he was released from prison, he would change his life as well as the lives of others. And he did. Today, he is the co-founder of 3Rs, an organization that aims to refine, reform and rebuild the social identity of urban reality. He and his business associates dedicate their time and lives to make a difference for the lives of the young people in Flint, helping felons in and out of prison, getting their lives on the right track, and helping elderly people. The group recently received the Neighborhood Leader Award.
