New Orleans, La.

Inspired by the challenges of getting younger family members to clean up for themselves, author Juliette Nichols wrote an educational children's picture book showing young readers "The Truth about Pigs" (published by Xlibris). With this cautionary tale, she hopes to get children to tidy up after they see what happens to a certain piggy.

The "Truth About Pigs" is the story of A. Pig, his sloppy ways and lack of personal hygiene. People can sometimes take on sloppy ways and bad habits, which can make others uncomfortable. Through the story of A. Pig, Nichols enables young readers to identify these ways and habits, and in so doing they can make cleanliness and organization a priority by changing bad habits.

A. Pig's lifestyle provides examples of how children and people in general should not live. With the rhyming and rhythm of the text as well as the colorful, well-drawn pictures, it conveys its ideas in an inoffensive manner.

"I believe you could give the book to a friend or family member to gently inform them of their problem," Nichols adds humorously.

"The Truth about Pigs" can be a marvelous tool for training children to tidy up their areas, as well as focusing on personal hygiene and can serve as a foundation to more advanced organization skills.
