SYLVANIA, Ohio

Every little trucker hauls his own precious cargo.

Similar to the popular History Channel show "Ice Road Truckers," Little Truckers: Feeling Scrappy is an adventurous tale of a group of semi-trucks on a mission to rescue one of their own during a blizzard on Big Bear Mountain in California.

The trucks are led in their quest by a veteran truck named Petee', an older model who fears his age might soon cause him to be sent to the scrap yard by his employer, the Shamrock Lucking Trucking Company, in Truckington, Ohio.

"Sometimes we feel like we are not needed or important, but we really are," author and truck driver Jeffrey Otersen said.

The story of Little Truckers began when Otersen's two sons asked him for a bedtime story. After weaving his passion for vintage trucks and infusing the personalities of real truckers he'd met while on the road, Little Truckers: Feeling Scrappy hit the assembly line.

"I really enjoyed adding characters and more dialogue over the years," Otersen said. "Writing this story has been a great adventure."
