In his new poetry collection "An Immigrant's Song: Of a migrant's life, love and despair" (published by AuthorHouse) author Jay Nayar explores the unique themes and emotive experiences of the worldwide community of immigrants.

Nayar summarizes his book as "a work of fiction poetry narrating the tale of an emigrant who is overtaken by financial difficulties at home to move out in pursuit of a transnational dream. The work narrates an emigrant's loves, travels, travails and tribulations."

An excerpt from "An Immigrant's Song," the poem "My Grandfather":

"Despite the debtor, he had a chair,
A knit white clean cloth in tatter,
Me on the ground beside his breath.
He told me of famine, of war,
The sly, cartographic brains of the fair,
Civilizations have seldom learned."

"Immigrants constitute a significant and important part of today's globalized society," Nayar says, explaining the appeal of his book. "The dreams and aspirations of immigrants need to be captured for the overall welfare of this community."
