ENGLEWOOD, N.J.

Author I. J. Alvarez shares her love of Jesus Christ with young readers in her new children's book, "Flicker Floo The Firefly" (published by WestBow Press), the first in a planned trilogy.

Based on Jesus' parables, "Flicker Floo The Firefly" centers on Flicker Floo, a faithful firefly who encourages all children to rejoice in Jesus' love and give him glory, but the firefly was not always the believer he is now.

A quiet, timid firefly, Flicker Floo wonders if he'll ever be able to soar through the skies like the other fireflies. When he learns to put God before himself, Flicker Floo finds the courage and strength that was inside him all along.

Flicker Floo's adventures teach children how to apply key biblical principles to their everyday lives and provide guidance for learning how to pray. Through her book series, Alvarez hopes to reach out to children and assure them of God's love.

"Many times God's answers will amaze us and exceed our expectations," Alvarez says to her readers. "Trust in God, shine your light for others, and you too may be amazed at the goodness of God!"
