MAUMELLE, Ark

Author and animal advocate Barbara Gail Barker gives a moving testament to the benefits of human-animal relationships in her new book, "How to Fall In Love with an Animal" (published by AuthorHouse).

"One evening while lying on our sofa watching the news on our television, a story was broadcasted describing the torture of various animals," Barker recalls. "From that point on, I decided to sit down and write this book."

In an effort to bring awareness to animal rights and the special bonds between animals and humans that enrich lives, Barker chronicles her family's experiences with animals throughout the years. She reflects on people she's known who had no value for animals' lives and discusses how harmful their attitudes are. Then, she goes on to reveal the joys of adopting an animal and the positive changes that animal activism can bring.

"I am deeply concerned about the world we live in today," Barker says. "We all know that our time will come to an end, and I hope that you listen to my own words throughout this book, and hopefully, it will bring out a transformation in you."
