Sarah Elizabeth Alvarez wanted to shed light on the serious effects of child abuse and to inspire others to never give up hope. It prompted her in writing "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made," (published by Trafford Publishing) a biographical account of a young girl who grew up with her parents and siblings in a modest home in Upstate New York in the late '60s and early '70s. She was emotionally and physically abused by her mother and sexually abused by her father.

This book tells the true story of a young girl who experienced severe trauma throughout her life. Her intimate and loving relationship with Christ allowed her to rise above the pain, and embrace her mental diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

"I believe that this book will appeal to readers because of the central theme of inspiration," Alvarez says. "It is estimated that in any given year, 5.7 million Americans are diagnosed with bipolar disorder. This book will hopefully show that one can not only live with bipolar but also live a meaningful life."

"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" touches on various themes such as love, acceptance, pain and forgiveness. It helps readers understand the resilience of the human spirit. It also serves to remind them that everyone deserves to live happy, fulfilling lives.
