The "What Pet Should I Get?" release date on July 28 brought joy and excitement for many Dr. Seuss fans, but it also marked another historic book sales day for Books-A-Million. Thanks to Theodor Geisel's first book release in 25 years, the Books-A-Million first day sales record for a kid's picture book in the last ten years has been broken.

"It's no surprise that a Dr. Seuss tale has achieved a milestone like this," said Sandra Wilson, senior buyer for children and teen books at Books-A-Million. "Book lovers of all ages are excited about the publication of an original Dr. Seuss book-the first one to be published since 'Oh The Places You'll Go' in 1990. This book should become an instant classic and with it we hope to grow another generation of readers."

"Dr. Seuss wrote simple entertaining books for children. In doing so, he created four generations of children who learned to read largely in part to his smart and playful style of writing and jump off the page illustrations," Wilson added.

This never-ever-before-seen picture book by Dr. Seuss about making up one's mind is the literary equivalent of buried treasure for Seuss fans. It was likely written between 1958 and 1962 and features the same brother and sister seen in Dr. Seuss' 1960 classic "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish." The story revolves around the adventures of the brother and sister visiting a pet store to pick a pet and captures a classic childhood moment-choosing a pet-and uses it to illuminate a life lesson: that it is hard to make up your mind, but sometimes you just have to do it.

Geisel was an American writer and illustrator and has authored several of the most popular children's books of all time. He wrote under the pen name "Dr. Seuss" and is best known for his rhyming poetic style. This type of writing has been recognized to help children remember words and phrases more easily while mastering the art of reading.
