After 10 successful books, Charles F. David comes back into the limelight with a thought-provoking military fiction titled "Eli". A spin-off from his previous book "FLAT LINE", David begins with an appalling premise: U.S.A. reduced to shambles and left withering on the vine. What with all the tanks, drones and nukes launched, it is nothing but a wasteland, a reminder of sorts of the annihilation and humiliation of the world's mightiest empire.

This fast-paced narrative follows Eli, an ex-Navy SEAL who returns to Idaho only to discover that the whole country was nuked by China and North Korea. The major cities all razed to the ground. The East and West Coast wiped out. On top of all that, there is no telling if a government still exists with the wreck that is left of Washington, D.C. The U.S. is in intense peril and violence and on the brink of collapse.

Without a nerve center, Eli and the men that follow him are thrown head long into World War III. While the world sits by and takes it all in, they seriously and sentimentally set themselves to the task to settle the scores and rebuild their nation. Modern warfare takes a backseat to the way this new war is fought as men fight on horseback, the way their ancestors had a hundred years earlier. But one question remains, will the flag wave in triumph once more over the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Wrapped around fiction and with characters like most Americans, that is, proud and willing to die for what they believe is the best country on earth, "Eli" is a highly engaging story with unpredictable story arcs and an extra edge of tension.
