GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas

In "Countdown to Atomgeddon," (published by Xlibris) author James Howell creates an immersive and informative read on the Manhattan Project and how it came to change human history.

"Countdown to Atomgeddon" follows the investigation of two adept journalists Blake and Nate as they delve deep into the heavily guarded secrets of the Manhattan Project, a project that would ultimately end in the creation of history's first atomic bomb. Their investigation takes them to Socorro, New Mexico where the bulk of the test took place. There they are staggered by the magnitude of the project and its potential to change the fate of the human race.

The inspiration for this book was taken from the author's own experiences as a youth and how he and his family lived close to the site where the test was conducted. "Countdown to Atomgeddon" is predominantly created to show readers one of mankind's greatest scientific accomplishments.

About the Author
James Howell was five years old when the first atomic bomb was detonated in the desert 30 miles from his home, July 16, 1945. It was the dawning of the atomic age and he slept through it. Since retiring from an executive sales position after 21 years, he has been trying to reconstruct that time and its implications. His objective in writing this book is to add the humanistic touch to much of the masses of documented information about Trinity Site, Jumbo, and to help revise the memory of that day. He now lives in Grand Prairie, Texas, with his wife.
